Back Yard Tobogganing

The warm weather has melted about a foot of snow, but we still have huge mounds that the kids used to make their own sliding hill.

My son and his friends planned and built some jumps, as my daughter watched.

Since the run wasn't very long, it was important to jump into the slide.

The kids took turns doing 360's and other moves, while one of them judged.

It was great to see them forget about their video games for a while, and have some real fun!

Ice Everywhere

Lots of snow, followed by cold weather - then warm weather, rain and freezing at night has resulted in an icy landscape. This is my favourite garage a few houses down - it makes the best icicles. It's funny how people are suspicious when I'm taking pictures in the back lane. The neighbourhood dogs don't care for it either.

The vent coming from our high efficiency furnace makes a nice ice sculpture that has to be knocked down every few weeks.

Ice pellets on the windshield this morning. The school buses weren't running today.

Icy back lane.

My back walkway this morning.

Icy snow chunks.

Natural inukshuk.

The weather can always be counted on to change, and be a topic of conversation. It was a beautiful day today, despite all the ice.
