Hard Luck Falls in May

This is the best time of year to see the falls at Hard Luck Canyon. Today was cloudy and a little rainy, but the lower light allowed me to get some pictures with a longer exposure.




Be careful if you climb down to the bottom - one of the guide ropes came down, and the slope is muddy and slippery at times.



I love coming here. I've talked to people who have lived in Whitecourt for years, but have never been here. It was one of the first places I wanted to visit when we first moved to town.

The creek at the bottom of the canyon is full and fast. Later in the summer when the water is low, you can step across the rocks to get to the other side. But not now!

After a good rain, and even some hail, the day ended with a beautiful rainbow. and a pink and purple sunset.
